I was interested in investigating something in the 1990's or 2000's, maybe about race relations, and in my readings, I came across the Los Angeles Riots of 1992. I wanted to investigate the underlying causes and tensions that contributed to a climate that could erupt into such a violent and large-scale riot. "Twilight" by Anna Deavere Smith provided and interesting, authentic, and unique lens to explore the tensions behind the Los Angeles Riots.
I think you did a really good job on this paper. You did a great job describing the buildup to the riots and then analyzing the underlying reasons such as ethnic issues and class tensions. If I had to make a criticism, it would be that I wish you had given a more detailed description of the artifact itself, the play. The lines you analyzed from the play were effective, but I felt that as the reader I still don't know very much about Twilight, although I did learn a lot about the roots of the riots. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed your paper and thought you did an incredibly thorough job researching and analyzing the 1992 LA riots.
